The PLOT of "ATLANTIS"
In the near future, a boy named Franklin is pulled underwater while fishing with his dad by a revolutionary jazz-fish named Stinge. Stinge tells Franklin about the troubles his native Atlantis is experiencing vis a vis the corrosion of their cultural freedom by evil politicians, who are masterminding a culturally and environmentally degrading oil spill. Stinge brings Franklin to Atlantis hoping that the boy's magic pillow will somehow help solve the oil crisis. Franklin gets a "cultural tour" of Atlantis, including poetry cafes, jazz jam sessions, and a brothel, where he meets a desirable squid named Celinda. Franklin and Celinda spend an unforgettable night together, cementing Franklin's desire to help the people of Atlantis rid themselves of the horrific oil spill and restore their cultural values. Unfortunately most of the other revolutionaries who would help him are swept up in a police raid and Franklin and Stinge are faced with plugging the oil leak themselves. They call on the spirit of Barley Farker--a famed jazz musician--to help them get through a guarded compound and Franklin succeeds in staunching the spill with his magic pillow. Mysteriously, Stinge disappears and a strange woman appears in his place: it turns out that the woman is in fact Stinge the German Mermaid, Barley Farker's widow who underwent a supernatural transsexual experience during the oil spill and has now returned to her natural, female state. Barley Farker is resurrected and reunited with Stinge and he writes a song for Franklin to sing about his experience in Atlantis.
